Boston Tree Preservation controls the Winter Moth either by spraying or systemic injection. When spraying, either Conserve or Ornazin is used. The active ingredient in Conserve is Spinosad, which is derived from the fermentation of a naturally occurring organism, uniquely combining the efficacy of synthetic insecticides with the benefits of biological insect pest control products. It has no mammalian toxicity. To view the MSDS (material safety data sheet) click here.
Ornazin Botanical Insecticide contains azadirachtin, a natural insect growth regulator extracted from the seeds of the tropical Neem tree (Azadirachta indica). This IGR interferes with the insect's key molting hormone, ecdysone. Azadirachtin disrupts hormonal activity in the quiescent pupal stage and prevents adult emergence very effectively. In situations where spraying is not practical or near waterways, Boston Tree Preservation uses the Arborjet closed injection system with ACE-jet. The product is injected directly into the sap flow of the tree with no exposure to the applicator, the soil or the air. For more information, click here.
